Sensory organs
Sensory organs
They are peripheral departments of the corresponding
sensory systems
.
The organs are specifically intended to perceive visual, auditory, statokinetic, olfactory, and gustatory stimuli.
They contain receptors formed by:
neurons —
sensorineural
or
primary sensory
receptors (organs of vision and smell);
specialized epithelial cells associated with sensitive endings of neurons —
sensoepithelial
or
secondary sensory
receptors (organs of hearing, equilibrium, and taste).
Sensory system (analyzer)
Such a system is a complex of structures that perceive signals from the external or internal environment to analyze and synthesize them.
It should include:
a peripheral section
— perceives the signal and converts its energy into a nerve impulse;
conductive section
— pathways to allow the nerve impulse brain entering;
a central section
— corresponding cortical nerve center
