Adipose cells (adipocytes) of white adipose tissue that accumulate and store fat are of a regfular spherical shape because the cytoplasm is almost entirely occupied by a single large droplet in these cells. Their surfaces are entwined by a delicate network of thin collagen (reticular) fibers that binds the cells together.
