Neurosecretory neurons

Hypothalamus (Gomori’s paraldexyde-fuchsin stain)

This is a type of multipolar neurons, which serve to produce and secrete neurohormones forming agglomerations ( nuclei) in the hypothalamus. The nerve cell bodies #1, #2 are irregular, they contain rounded clear nuclei #1, #2. Any nucleus comprises a large nucleolus. The paraldexyde-fuchsin stain reveals numerous neurosecretory granules #1, #2 in the cytoplasm.
